The night that Bianca met Andrew, she and her brother were on a mission to meet new interesting people after a time of singledom. When they mistook Michael (the future best man) for an old friend, Bianca found herself chatting to Andrew. Throughout the old school Anthems night at HQ, Bianca and Andrew conveniently kept ‘bumping into each other’. “The night was drawing to an end and I didn’t want to miss the chance to talk to her again, so I took a gamble and asked for her number,” says Andrew.
He left it until late Sunday to call her and managed to pluck up the courage to ask for a date. They met the following Friday in North Adelaide, shared nachos and sangria, and by the end of the night, a kiss. “It was then that I knew that I didn’t want her to get away so I had to kiss her. The rest is history.”
Andrew supported Bianca through some tough times in her life. “Just a year into our relationship, I lost my brother very suddenly. Andrew remained such a constant and put up with so much from me during that period. I knew then that if he could support me and my parents through that, he was worth it and was a keeper.”
The proposal was ridiculously romantic, involving a cake from their favourite bakery with the question ‘will you marry me’ in chocolate, a delivery of flowers with a beautiful handwritten note, dinner at the same place they shared their first date, and a room full of candles for the big moment.
After all that romance, I had high expectations for their Barossa wedding – and I wasn’t disappointed. The rustic modern wedding was held at the beautiful wedding venue, Chateau Tanunda in the Barossa Valley. “I took Bianca out there on a drive in our early dating days and thought – hmmm what a nice place to get married!” On the morning of the big day, Andrew had surprised Bianca with a beautiful gift and heartfelt card….romance romance romance!
It was clear a lot of thought had been put into their day. Andrew and Bianca included some handmade elements into their wedding décor, and came up with the décor designs themselves. Bob, Bianca’s dad, brought along some beautiful red gum for the wedding wishing well table – and in return Bianca and Andrew surprised him with the band which included an idol of Bob’s – Crows Football Legend Graham Cornes, who he got to meet on the night (photos below)!
As a touching tribute to their lost family member, a seat was left empty at the family table in honour of Ben, Bianca’s brother, and she had his name added to her bouquet. Bianca also had a framed photograph of her brother with her on the day, which she had some of her wedding photos with, as a way of ‘having photos with her brother on her wedding day’.
Before the big day of their Barossa wedding, we asked Bianca, what are you most looking forward to? “Finally getting to the day, just to enjoy the moment and to see all of the planning that we have done in the past few years – that will be an amazing feeling. Sharing that moment with all of the people that we treasure will be truly amazing.”
It was a beautiful day to be a wedding photographer in the Barossa Valley – they had a unique backing at the end of the aisle – a chalkboard style with different messages and quotes of love, which later stood behind the bridal table. For something different to what I had seen, the cake was decorated with beautiful Autumn coloured leaves, but even better – there was an oreo cookie cake as well as personalised cookies for their guests – afterall, all you need is love…and a few cookies!
The love of this couple is clear, and I loved getting the chance to meet them, learn their story, and do the wedding photography for their Barossa wedding. Bianca looked like a stunning princess in her ball style wedding gown. Thank you Bianca and Andrew, I hope you share a lifetime of happiness!
Vendor information is posted at the end of the photos if you would like more details, links etc.
The moment when Bob met Cornsey! Graham Cornes is Bob’s idol, a former Adelaide Crows superstar and his band were part of the entertainment – and surprise – at Bianca and Andrew’s wedding in Tanunda. The adoration in Bob’s eyes for his daughter was so beautiful, so it was brilliant that they could give him this moment on their big day!
