Like what would be considered the typical start to an Aussie romance, Carly and Aaron met at the pub on a Saturday after Aaron’s local tennis match! “Unfortunately I was at the pub for a Christmas work show which involved quite a lot of champagne, which contributed to the night being a little hazy. Although I didn’t remember speaking to Aaron, luckily I must have made some sort of impression as he sent me a Facebook friend request the next day. Having no idea who he was (whoops!) I did a bit of research and accepted his friend request.”
They quickly found they had a lot in common, but because of their matching histories and both having kids involved, they were hesitant to start anything up. Aaron persisted; “after about 3 months he came over as a ‘friend’ and as soon as he walked through the door I knew I wanted to be with him for the rest of my life! We were inseparable from then on! Before that day even though I had been in two long term relationships I never really believed in true love, never believed that I would ever want to spend the rest of my life with someone, but Aaron has changed all of that – I adore him and honestly can’t imagine my life without him. He is the most kind hearted, generous, loving man and he has made my world a better place.”
Aaron planned a beautiful proposal, and had a bit of time to get it right as he decided he would do it the night of the Ed Sheeran concert. He researched and picked what he thought was the most perfect engagement ring and booked a room at the Hilton for the night of the concert– but when they got there, the roses he had organised hadn’t arrived! “So we went for a walk down the mall and just so happened to walk past a jewellery store where Carly pointed out a ring almost identical to the one I had bought and said how much she loved it – phew! I had made the right choice! When we returned to our room the flowers had arrived and gave her a huge surprise. I also gave her an Ed Sheeran CD and a card pronouncing I was totally devoted love to her. She swears that she still had no idea what was still to come! We went to the concert and while dancing and singing our favourite song, ‘Thinking Out Loud’, I whispered those four words in her ear. She was so surprised that she didn’t believe me to start with, until I nervously and ever so carefully (so as to not drop it on the floor under everyone’s feet) produced the ring of her dreams!”
“The most special thing about Aaron’s proposal is that he is so honest and hiding this from me would have been so hard for him! He even snuck into my Pinterest account to see what sort of jewellery I liked! “
They held the wedding ceremony at St Pauls Lutheran Church in Clare which Carly’s family attends – but it almost didn’t happen! “We almost missed out on our dream of being married at the Lutheran Church as there is another Carly Heinrich being married there a few months after us and the Pastor thought I was her and was changing the dates back and forward all the time!” Thankfully Aaron eventually called and the Pastor realised there were different grooms involved!
Their beautiful kids were involved in the bridal party, as were their siblings, and Carly and Aaron wanted to make sure their wedding was romantic, elegant, casual and family orientated. “After the Declaration of Marriage at the ceremony we wanted to be present our children with personalised gifts to symbolise the joining of the two families.” There wasn’t a dry eye in the church, this was such a touching moment.
The reception was held at Pikes Polish Hill River Estate – one of the many beautiful places to host your wedding in the rolling vine covered hills of the Clare Valley. In fact, Carly had lived in a house on the property when she was born, so holding their wedding reception at such a significant place was a gorgeous touch. Sally-Anne’s speech was the funniest of all times… this I had tears from laughing too much!
I loved that the kids were so involved in the wedding, and that they are part of the celebrations afterwards too, they were such well behaved and lovely children, both of you should be so proud. Aaron and Carly are taking the family to the Gold Coast for a week for the start of their honeymoon, before heading off to Fiji as a married couple!
“Not only is Carly a dedicated and fantastic mother to our combined four children, she is also a great partner and lover. But most of all she is my best friend. I love the way her smile makes me feel when I walk into the room, I love seeing her face last thing before I go to sleep and first thing when I wake up. I just love being around her.”
“Aaron is honestly the most amazing man I have ever met, he has shown me how good life can be when you have love.”
And your love story is really only just beginning Carly and Aaron – may the incredible journey to come with your family be even better than you can imagine! If I can ever find what you two share I will count myself very lucky xx
