DIY Handmade wedding in Port Lincoln

When Summer and James were choosing their Port Lincoln Wedding Ceremony location, Flinders Park was an easy choice.“Our Grandma’s lived next to each other for years about 50m up the road, we both spent a lot of time in the park with our grannies when we were younger, plus it’s a lovely park!”

We shared the story of how they met and got engaged after their awesome engagement photo session in Port Lincoln and had been awaiting their wedding in anticipation ever since. Along with her mum, Summer  handmade so many different aspects of the DIY wedding and they matched the rustic and vintage wedding feel. “I wanted people to feel the love I guess, which is why Mum and I have made pretty much everything ourselves. I wanted it to be personal, and have ‘us’ stamped on everything.”

The DIY wedding details included the invites, menus, seating chart, paper fans and hearts for decoration, gifts for the guests and bags for the candy bar. DIY wedding centrepieces decorated the tables, handmade signs directed guests to the wedding ceremony and there was 70 metres of pastel coloured bunting to decorate the wedding reception. “I found pictures of what I wanted, she (mum) worked out how we would make them and then we went to work. We have spent countless hours and weekends cutting, sticking, staining, gluing and making!

The effort put into the DIY details was clear and astonishing, and you could feel the love and meaning behind the decorations.  The bridesmaids wore peach individual style dresses down a rose petal aisle, followed by the blushing bride in a gorgeous strapless gown with a layered skirt. You could certainly see the love and pride in their eyes as Dad walked his little girl down the wedding aisle.

Their wedding photos were a lot of fun, we played with bright big balloons, had photos on one of the smallest jetties I’ve seen, as well as this super cool old green double decker bus. The DIY wedding was celebrated with a wedding reception at Boston Bay Winery, and Summer and James made sure their guests got to enjoy the beautiful ocean and winery views by having a roaming entrée to start their wedding menu. Flag bunting and fairy lights covered the ceiling and the frilly cake matched the brides dress – it looked divine! “The planning process was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. I had a very clear images in my head on how I wanted things to look.”

I loved that we got to turn their engagement photos into their wedding sign in book – personalised and unique. Tears were shed during the beautiful speeches and the love put into this wedding – as well as the love between Summer and James – was unmistakeable. May this love only multiply!
