Think outside the square of your venue to make a unique wedding…
Picking a wedding venue can be a hard task – especially when you are from a small town with limited venues, or perhaps have attended weddings at all of the best venues in the area. It’s hard to look at a space and imagine your own wedding when it feels like it’s all been done before. So how can you create a wedding that reflects you, in a space that’s held the wedding of all of your friends? Think outside the square!
A perfect example of this is the Port Lincoln Hotel – a popular wedding venue for destination weddings, or even local brides who have come to know and love the service that the Hotel has to offer. The Port Lincoln Hotel has an upstairs ballroom that is commonly used for weddings, with the breathtaking views of the beaches of Boston Bay through the ballroom windows a big drawing point for brides. But if you stop and take another look, the venue holds a number of unique and wonderful opportunities for your wedding in one simple location.
With fantastic views of the ocean, the pool deck has proven to be a breathtaking place to hold a wedding ceremony as the Wedding Coordinator at the Port Lincoln Hotel, told me about a recent couple’s experience, ‘it was really beautiful, they had a very small intimate wedding where we utilised the pre-foyer area, the pool deck itself, and the courtyard. The couple actually stood on one side of the pool, and we set the chairs up on the other side. They (the couple) had the ocean behind them and it looked absolutely gorgeous.
The foyer area can also be used for pre-reception cocktails, and the ballroom can be designed to suit the wedding you desire – whether you’re after a dance floor that is the centre of attention, or long tables through the room for a seated meal.
If your venue doesn’t have different spaces on offer, something as simple as changing the door that you enter through can immediately set your wedding apart. Setting up your wedding table in the centre of all of the guests or even adding some couches around the dance floor (to include the rhythmically challenged in all of the fun) are just some more examples of ways to make a ‘been there, done that’ venue seem brand new again.
So no matter how you’ve seen your wedding venue being used before, to create a wedding that is uniquely you and invokes the feelings you are after, just think outside the square (or in this case, the ballroom!).
