Natalie + Simon’s Wedding Day

My first New Years Eve wedding was a knock out!! Natalie and Simon, their bridal party (you guys were so much fun), close family and friends were all just so lovely, it was the perfect end to 2016!

A couple of weeks before the wedding I headed up to Natalie’s Mum and Step Fathers property, Gaynor + Alan’s, in Woodside to catch up with Nat, meet the family and have a scout around for some photo locations. Driving up the road, I was like wow this is such a beautiful location for a wedding, and have to say a huge shout out to Gaynor and Alan for their hard work in the lead up getting the grounds just perfect. Just walking around their property there were lots of great photo opportunities, but Alan took us for a drive just down the road and we came across some other awesome spots we just had to go to…

Leading up to the wedding, again SA had thrown some trying conditions, hot, humidity, an abundance of rain, then which seems to be the norm…. no power!! Not for just a few hours… but a couple of days!! I have to say I was keeping an eye on the weather forecast every day the week before to see what changes might occur.

Wedding day was here and the weather was perfect, maybe sometimes a little too warm in the direct sun without breeze, but it was a gorgeous day.

Nat was breath taking in her Alexis George gown and when she walked down the stairs you could see Simon couldn’t wait for her to get to him.
The ceremony was lovely with some thoughtful reading from their friends.

Early in the week I asked Natalie + Simon – Were there any particularly memorable moments of the day?
The shining sun and weather being amazing after huge storm and power outage in the lead up.
The photo time spent with bridal party was very special, many laughs, smiles and hugs shared.
The bridal party entry… Last minute, as in last minute, changes by the boys to the song.  Reflected Simon, Joel and Sam’s friendship perfectly and their love for Seinfield… I was happy to let him have that one win
All the beautiful speeches!
The first dance in this moment it all felt real and we were both beaming with love.
The donuts…
Everything!!

And I also asked – And now an answer from each of you; what was your number one moment of the day?
Nat- Being absolutely overwhelmed with happiness as I walked down the aisle, my beautiful mum and sister by my side and all our special people there to share our day. My eyes and heart were transfixed on my gorgeous husband to be.
Simon- I would have to say it was when Nat walked out from behind the curtains and down the stairs. I felt my face twitching with excitement. I hope you didn’t get that photo! Such a surreal moment and I’ll never forget it.

Instead of a traditional cake they had tasty doughnuts filled with Nutella/jam/custard/lemon curd etc which were just awesome!

Oh and have I said yet this was an outdoor wedding, oh how I love outdoor weddings and all the lights that are just so pretty!! Adelaide Hills Outdoor Weddings big tick from me!

You know I love the “how they met” deets; here is their story…
Funnily enough we can not remember the exact moment we first met. We are originally from the same town but didn’t get to know each other until our friendship group moved to Adelaide and hit the city social scene. What we do remember is that when we saw each other out socially we would always share a laugh and a cheeky chat. Then one fateful day we both felt a little differently towards each other.

Natalie – I remember I’d just come home from an overseas trip and was catching up with friends at the local football when Simon arrived, having not seen him in some time I remember being surprised to feel a little spark.

Simon – And I felt it too as in between this meeting, while I was working away, I managed to sneakily exchange numbers through subtle FaceBook chats. The next time we all went out as a group I pulled my smoothest move with a pick up line from a movie that I’d been saving for the right girl. I think we were equally as shocked that it actually worked.

When Simon was home in between work shifts we would go out for dates and got to know each other more. We bonded over our love of food and travel… we can still talk for hours about both. I remember distinctly while dating we were in a heavy food convo when Simon stopped and quite seriously said ‘I think we’re going to get fat together!’. We certainly got happy together.

Nat + Simon, love you both, at times like this I really wish I had more words to articulate my thoughts accurately… I am so thankful you chose me to be your wedding photographer and that we got to meet and become friends through the process. I am a very lucky girl!!

I hope you are both enjoying your honeymoon and cant wait to catch up in Ceduna xx
