What’s worse than opening your favourite tub of icecream and finding only 2 scoops left? Finding out that something you had your heart set on is not available. Given that a majority of brides want to get married during the warmer months, it is very possible that your favourite wedding photographer, hairdresser, venue, make up artist or other vendor has already been booked by another bride. It doesn’t matter if you’re in Adelaide, on the Eyre Peninsula, in the Adelaide Hills, Barossa or Clare Valley – or even if you’re planning a destination wedding – you’re not the only bride who has fallen in love with a particular wedding venue or photographer.
So if you don’t want to settle for second best, what can you do? For some, changing the wedding date to a completely different weekend is not an option – life is busy and just like our wedding, our other commitments are locked into the diary well in advance. For those people, a Friday wedding might be the way to go.
Friday weddings aren’t the norm, but have many benefits. You’ve probably read about weekday’s being a cheaper option for weddings than weekends, so there’s plus number one. With not many brides holding Friday weddings, you’ve got more chance of securing the best photographer, venue or hairdresser with no one getting in before you – plus number two. And with the formalities finished on a Friday, you’ve got all weekend for recovery breakfasts, family lunches, celebratory dinners and fun with your new husband/wife, family and friends. Plus number three. For all your guests – it means a Friday off – that’s a win in anyone’s books! (On a side note, this also means that if you’re married on a Friday, everyone can catch a big game on the Saturday – AFL Footy Grand Final, you know, if that’s a big deal for you!).
