The first night Elise and Aaron met, they were brought together by Elise’s sister who was seeing Aaron’s best friend at the time. Elise was in the middle of her first teaching practical at university and had completely lost her voice! “I used my phone to communicate with him the whole night. We shared a little kiss before I got in the cab to go home and the rest is history!”
Elise and Aaron are a couple who love to see the world and travel together, but enjoy time at home in the backyard just as much. Elise considers them a ‘good team’ and says that Aaron always makes her laugh and feel loved. Aaron feels the same – saying that he loves the way Elise makes him laugh and supports him in everything he does. Aaron realised Elise was ‘the one’ when she finished studying at University. “Elise got offered a teaching job in Coober Pedy straight out of Uni. It was in her best interests to take the job and although it meant I’d have to live far far away from the beach and surf, I knew I couldn’t let her go without me.”
I loved reading about their different perspectives of their engagement!
Elise- “We had picked a ring together and discussed our future often so I knew it was coming at some stage. We went on a trip to Sydney and the Gold Coast last summer. I thought he would do it on New Years Eve as we were at Taronga Zoo watching the fireworks over the Harbour. He didn’t though, and I may have gotten a little grumpy! But I’m glad he didn’t do it then as there were a million people around. He waited until a week later and took me to a waterfall in the Hinterlands on a day trip to Noosa which was very private and sweet.”
Aaron- “I knew that I wanted to propose on that trip but I had decided I didn’t want to do it over New Years Eve as she would probably be expecting it. I’d been looking up a few different walking trails and waterfalls on the internet and thought I had come across the perfect place. I took her on a detour on a day trip to Noosa to what I thought would be a spectacular waterfall, but which turned out to be only a dripping tap with tons of moss covered slippery rocks! It didn’t matther though, as I got the response I was after!”
Elise and Aaron were married on the 28th of December 2013, on the Ceduna Foreshore where they read their own vows to each other. It was a beautiful and genuine moment of their wedding ceremony and a lovely personal touch.
The couple then celebrated with friends and family at a rustic and relaxed wedding reception at the Ceduna Town Hall. Succulents arranged by Bay Funktion Florists replaced flowers and instead of a traditional wedding cake, Elise and Aaron opted for a cheese wheel cake from the Smelly Cheese Shop.
