Kaitlin + Sam’s Engagement Photography

Kaitlin and Sam had their engagement shoot in the lead up to their wedding day and it was so much fun that we were wiping the tears from our eyes after laughing so much. We went to Pioneer Park and then to the beach, and had a stack of fun taking photos to celebrate their engagement.

“We met at school, dated when we were 13 years old, but as life gets busy we broke up. Four years later I was in Adelaide at boarding school and Sam was at trade school, we decided to catch up as it had been a long time. Our first date was at the Hogs Breath where Sam had called me up and asked if I would like to go with him and his mum!”

Without Sam’s mum as the third wheel, their next date on Valentines Day was the beginning of their forever story. “He took me to the movies, bought me lots of new things and dinner. Two days later he asked me if I would be his girlfriend.”

It didn’t take long for the high school sweethearts to realise this was it for them. “I knew he was the one, as I have never been so crazy about anyone. He is the only one I want to go to when things are bad.”

“I decided she was the one when I realised we had the same mentality.”

Her curious nature nearly got the better of Kaitlin when it came to the proposal. As she tends to do around her birthday and Christmas time, she started snooping about what her present might be. She knew Sam had been talking to her best friend about something, but her friend told her to leave it alone. Persistent Kaitlin then got her friend stuck into the booze, and tried to get it out of her. “She told me he was getting me a new bike for my birthday and just wanted to know what sort to get me. So I knew what my present was going to be and I left it alone.”

But she didn’t know! Sam got up at Kaitlin’s 21st birthday and said a beautiful speech. “Even that part was a surprise, because he doesn’t’ like talking in front of lots of people!”. He spoke about their relationship and the next thing Kaitlin knew, he was down on one knee in front of her.

“I was planning on proposing to Kaitlin for 2 months and decided to surprise her at her birthday, in front of all of her friends and family.”

Of course she said yes, which is why I got the chance to take their engagement photos as part of their wedding photography package. “The think I love most about Sam is how easy going he is, he can make friends anywhere with anyone. I love his amazing (sometimes annoying) personality and the way he can make me go from being upset to happy in 3 seconds.”

“I can be comfortable in front of Kaitlin, and she makes me laugh.”

There were lots of laughs at their engagement photo shoot, which was perfect for their natural photos that they can enjoy in the lead up to their wedding later this year.  “I’m looking forward to seeing all of our friends and family enjoying the day as much as we are – and wearing my pretty dress!” We can’t wait either.
