I was reminiscing recently about the fun that I had on my hens day in October last year. My bridesmaids had organised a bus load of friends and a bag full of laughs to travel around to some of the beautiful wineries we have at our fingertips here in South Australia. One that particularly stands out in my mind is the Bird in Hand Winery in Woodside, just a short drive from Adelaide.
I’d heard that Bird in Hand is a very popular wedding venue with it’s beautiful lawn areas, gorgeous views of the vineyards as they roll over the hills, and a brilliant barrel hall to hold an elegant wedding reception in. But the day we visited, I truly got a grasp of what a stunning wedding venue it really is. Not only was the gallery being set up for an afternoon function, but the barrel hall was decorated with draped ceilings, a stunning chandelier, candles and flickering lights, to create the most exquisite winery wedding reception that I had every seen laid out. (I may have had a twinge of jealousy).
So with Bird in Hand all booked up for weddings and functions that day, we were to enjoy our wine tasting outside in the sunshine – no complaints here! The picturesque lawns are immaculate, and the surrounds made for perfect photos with all my girls – it never hurts to practice for your wedding photos does it! As an added bonus, there is a big chess board on the grass to bring out your competitive side, and plenty of room for our hilarious hens day games on the rest of the lawn area.
Bird in Hand winery is an absolutely beautiful location for wedding (or a hens day) and at just 25 minutes from Adelaide it is only a stones throw away.
