I was so spoilt on the day of Kirsty and Brad’s engagement photo shoot, spoilt by the location, spoilt by the weather, and spoilt with good people and a good time. The jacaranda trees bloomed around us in a gorgeous shade of purple, the sun shone through the trees, we were visited by mother duck and her ducklings during a shoot in the park (!!) and with an outfit change and a trip to the beach we added some more brilliant photos to their engagement shoot collection. It was a photographer’s ideal day!
Kirsty and Brad are a very carefree and casual couple which is why their laid back engagement story comes as no surprise to me – it was just a natural progression in their beautiful relationship. “I knew Kirsty was the one when we started to spend a lot more time together and got further into our relationship. I found she was the one I could trust, love, open up to and know she was always there for me. The comfort I got from being with her made me want to always spend my life with this amazing woman.”
“I guess I knew he was the one when the first thing I thought of in the morning and the last thing on my mind before I fell asleep, and not being able to imagine my life without him.” Slowly their relationship and steps into forever unfolded before them. “We made the move to get an animal together, soon followed by renting our own place and started looking at saving for our own house. While in Adelaide for her mother’s wedding, we went into Bell and Brunt to pick up their wedding rings and have some others cleaned, it was then that I found out Kirsty’s size and design of what she liked, as it is all hand made.” Brad ordered the engagement ring, and secretly got it home without anyone being the wiser. He hid it and waited a few months before he had the perfect moment.
Brad is the kind of guy that makes proposal jokes a lot, so Kirsty had learnt to not become suspicious of any strange behaviour. “The proposal was on a local beach while walking our dog. The time was right, we had been living together in our own place for 3 months and this was the next step in our journey together. I had a made a few jokes about proposal throughout our time together, but this was the real one. I let go of her hand and held her in my arms, gave her a kiss and got down on one knee”
“I may have said whilst he was on bended knee that I hoped he wasn’t teasing me and he was asking for real!” When Brad pulled out the ring box, it sunk in, he really was proposing, and they were going to get married!
“I love everything about him and the way he makes me feel everyday. Of course no relationship is perfect or without its ups and downs, but I feel we just get stronger and stronger no matter what life throws at us.”
I’ll be joining them for their wedding in 2015, and I can’t wait to see these friends of mine tie the knot. “I’m looking forward to the whole wedding day experience, but ultimately walking down the aisle and marrying the man of my dreams that I want to spend the rest of my life with.”
