Ashlea and Anthony’s wedding was held at the beautiful Glen Ewin Estate, and it was a special celebration. Every detail of this beautiful marriage was completely delightful and I am sure you will be swept up into the magic and emotion. We had glorious sunlight, had some cloud coverage, and we even had a few spots of rain which added some sparkle to their photos that will remain in their memories and heart. Their love for one another is clearly evident, with the smiles they shared and the way the looked at each other. Encircled by their joyful family, wedding party and friends, we are all honoured to have witnessed an unforgettable day.
If you didn’t know already, I absoutley love hearing how couples met. Here is Ashlea and Anthony’s amazing story by Ashlea.
“We met at Oktoberfest in Munich in 2013. Anthony was travelling through Europe on a Contiki tour and I was travelling around Europe with my younger brother (Jarred) and another friend. Anthony’s tour was only in Munich and attending Oktoberfest for one night, I was in Munich for 5 nights.
At Oktoberfest you must line up within the festival to enter specific tents and beer gardens, once you go in, you are seated at random by the hosts. Anthony and his mates happened to be seated at the table right next to the one where we were seated. While
I was lined up for the ladies room, Jarred overheard the aussie accent from the table next door, when some people left, he moved across to that table to chat with the fellow Australians. When I came back I ended up sitting next to Anthony. During this conversation we realised we were both from Adelaide, and actually lived only 15 minutes apart. Anthony thought that Jarred & I were dating (haha – gross!!), luckily that issue was cleared up pretty quickly and he was told that the relationship was actually brother – sister. After a few beers and some hilarious conversation Anthony asked if he could put his phone number in my phone, which I agreed to – it was saved as “Anthony – Nice guy from Adelaide”, really original haha. As the festival was closing both of our groups left together to try and find our way back to the train station. We managed to get lost, so we wondered the streets of Munich for around an hour before we finally managed to find the right train station, this obviously allowed for more chatting and getting to know each other. Both of us then got on our respective trains, Anthony going one way, and me going the other (let’s not leave out that we both got on the wrong trains initially).
We added each other on Facebook and the rest is pretty much history. We caught up the day after Anthony returned from Europe, our first date was to grab a coffee and take a long walk down Brighton beach. After that first date we never went more than a few days without seeing each other. We moved in together after only about 4 months of dating, which I’m sure sounds crazy to a lot of people!! Fortunately we both have amazing families who have been so supportive of our relationship right from the start, so that just made it so much easier.”
I love to hear about the proposal; and here is their story by Ashlea…
“Anthony proposed on our 2 year anniversary at Brighton Beach where we had our first date. He had planned an entire day of surprise activities for me, which was so thoughtful and lovely. I’d definitely never had anybody plan a day just for me before.
Every Friday for several months leading up to this ‘surprise day’ he would give me a hint about what kind of activities we would be doing. His hints were terrible, and even when I finally did guess an activity he still didn’t tell me haha. I definitely had a feeling a proposal might be coming, seeing as marriage was something we had talked about a lot. Anthony is completely useless at being deceptive; he normally has the truth written all over his face!
In the morning we went to Morialta Falls, we went on a beautiful scenic walk to see the waterfalls. We then went home and got changed, I was told to dress ‘nicely’. Anthony drove me out to K1 winery, a truly stunning cellar door in the Adelaide Hills. We did some wine tastings and sat out on the beautiful deck over the water, the weather was perfect. Then we went to D’Arenberg restaurant and had a delicious degustation lunch, I was certainly very spoilt!! On the way home, Anthony suggested we stop at the beach for a walk considering the weather was so nice, he took me down to Brighton Beach. We went for a walk along the water edge and he was definitely acting weird haha, so that kind of tipped me off. We then just sat on a towel on the sand for a while enjoying the beautiful weather, when we went to leave, I stood up and turned around and Anthony was on one knee and asked me to Marry him, he pulled out the most beautiful ring, I was speechless. After saying “are you serious?” about 5 times I managed to say yes. Hilariously he couldn’t remember which finger he was meant to put the ring on, so he just handed me the box!”
Wishing you both a lifetime of laughs, love and great times.
