Scott and Mardi went to school 30 minutes apart, and met when Scott’s best friend moved to Cummins from Tumby Bay. “I feel as though Scott tells this story better, as he’s far more enthusiastic about it – I find reflecting back on high school excruciatingly awkward.” Mardi says (hearing ya!) but it was when Scott came to watch his best mate in the school play when they met. “Long story short and bypassing the fact I wore see-through pants, Scott asked his mate for my number and we began chatting. He “asked me out” not long after.“ Nearly 9 years later they’re still ‘annoying each other’.
“In our (almost) 9 years together we have been through a lot, which has made us as a couple (and individuals) who we are today. Within three months during the summer we were 18, Scott lost his brother who was 16; I lost both my grandparents on my dad’s side and I moved to Adelaide to study at university. This was the hardest, most emotional time in in both our lives – it was difficult to offer support to someone who was 7 hours away, especially when we were both grieving. We did find a way to cope, though, and this experience has made our relationship stronger as we have a deeper understanding of why we are who we are today.”
A high school love as strong as that was meant to last, and after Scott finished his apprenticeship and moved to Adelaide while Mardi finished uni. They then moved to London. “I am in Early Childhood so it was easy for me to pick up work. Scott became a stereotype and worked behind a bar. We only stayed for 4 months as Scott was busting to move back to Tumby Bay and play FOOTBALL. Priorities, right?” Now it’s all back to where it began, they live in Tumby Bay, and Mardi teaches in Cummins! Talk about the circle of life!
I love how they describe the moments they knew ‘he/she was the one’. “I knew Scott was the one when he skipped a game of football to come visit me in Adelaide!”

Mardi was convinced that she was going to be an awkward bride who was going to be super nervous the whole time, but she was absolutely glowing. The bridal party got ready at the beautiful Tanonga Eco Lodges where the Port Lincoln wedding ceremony was held, followed by the reception at the Tumby Bay Soldiers Memorial Hall.
Mardi’s dress had a lovely spider web lace, something I hadn’t seen before but it was so beautiful. Scott and the guys were super entertaining , even though it was a warm day. Mardi + Scott the way you look at each other is so gorgeous, wishing you both all the very best in life xx
