Georgie was sent along to the first ever ‘Wirrulla Wants A Wife’ event with the intention of having a chat to a friend of a friend, but could never work out which particular person she was meant to be talking to. “I started talking to him (Darren) but we couldn’t figure out which of Darren’s cousins worked with my friend.” It didn’t matter that she didn’t find this friend of a friend; instead the fate had her set to meet her future husband. Georgie and Darren met up again the following Friday for their first date and haven’t looked back since.
Darren jokingly says that it’s Georgie’s organisational skills that he loves about her – and what skills they must be; with just over 3 months to plan a wedding she pulled it off with style! And just to be clear – Darren did finish his answer to what he loved most with, ‘it’s the whole thing’…..that ‘ol romantic!
Georgie says, “I love the way he cares for me. He always tries to make me happy and by doing the small things to make my day a little easier.”
The couple love to spend time together, just spending time driving around the farm on a Sunday with a beer in hand makes them happy. They share a deep and emotional love that is clear to see from their rustic country theme wedding photos.
Georgie and Darren were married on the Streaky Bay Jetty on the 11th of January 2014. Surrounded by friends and family, they celebrated what they loved about each other as well as the beautiful future ahead of them. This was followed by a reception at Mocean Café Restaurant which was decorated in a relaxed rustic country theme by Bay Funktion. Looking at their beautiful wedding photos, you can hardly believe the wedding was put together in such a short timeframe. “It’s been a whirlwind with only 3 and half months to plan it.” Not only that, but they were renovating too –as I found out when we asked what they wanted to remember most about the lead up to their wedding. “Our ability to work together to renovate our house and still smile at each other at the end of a long day, while also planning a wedding,” Georgie said.
Tears were shed during the speeches, as were many laughs and a few sneaky kisses between the new husband and wife, who literally glowed with happiness. A beautiful cupcake wedding cake was surrounded by cake pops and a dessert buffet, while candles, fairy lights and flag bunting hung from the roof to really transform the reception venue. The bridesmaids wore a light tiffany blue colour, which looked sensational against the beach surrounds of Streaky Bay, while Georgie wore a beautiful full skirt gown from Bridal on Pulteney with gorgeous detail.
It was a terrific wedding, truly emotional and loving and the country and rustic relaxed wedding theme was perfect for this couple that met at the farmer wants a wife themed event!
