I remember when I was a flowergirl for my Aunt and Uncle, and I was given a beautiful necklace which I cherished forever after. So when it came time for gift giving to my own flowergirl and bridesmaids, I knew I wanted something just as sentimental.
Onto the internet I went, finding lovely pearly bracelets with lockets for each of the girls in the bridal party which I later filled with photos of the two of us.
I also made up a ‘care package’ for the day, lollies, tissues, deodorant, perfume, a flower for their hair, clutch, earrings and lipgloss – all things I gathered over the time we were engaged so it wasn’t a big hit at the end of it all.
Jewellery can be a great gift for your bridesmaids, something they can wear on your big day so it has that special memory with it. Perhaps you are paying for the outfits instead – or for thanks for their help in all the planning and big day, you’ve organised them a massage for the week following the wedding.
Something personalised for the special people of your bridal party shows the extra thought that has gone into it. Engraved glasses, their favourite artists latest cd, an IOU for dinner at their favourite restaurant all would be appreciated gifts – and a chance to catch up over some more celebratory champagne!
In reality – your bridesmaids aren’t expecting a gift for being involved in your wedding day, and something like a handwritten card expressing your thanks and love for them being in your life means a whole lot more than any material gift you can give. So don’t feel as though you have to give a gift, just be sure to show your true thanks and appreciation for the people you have chosen to stand beside you on the biggest day of your life. Then all that is left is to enjoy the fun and pampering of your special day with your closest friends there for every second!
