Kirsty and Kyle first met in May 2011 at the local pub – soon realising that they lived only 2 blocks from each other and had bought their houses and pet staffy’s only 6 months apart! “Almost straight away, we had so much in common, and it was really convenient dating someone who only lives around the corner!”
They love their trips to McLaren Vale and Clare, riding bikes to the winery’s for some tastings and lunch, so it is little wonder that they chose the vineyards of McLaren Vale as the backdrop for their wedding ceremony and their reception at the home of Kyle’s parents. “We have a private ceremony which gives us lots of time with our closest family and friends on the day. We have a sort of special arrival to our reception also, we are asking everyone to be waiting in the front yard for our arrival.”
Kirsty looked stunning in her wedding dress even though she didn’t really know she was the ‘wedding dress’ type. “Well I wasn’t really big on wedding dress shopping, I just find them all big and heavy looking, I went as more of a joke with Angela and we went to a few stores and just tried on a bunch and pretty much as soon as I tried mine on (50 dresses in) I was like, ‘oh hey I actually like this!’ However it was a bit out of my price range, but I took my mum back to test it on again and she said she loved it too and wanted to buy it for me, so we got it then and there.’ The slim fitting dress with spaghetti straps and stunning lace and beaded detail bodice and train was just perfect for Kirsty and her elegant and relaxed vibe – so beautiful! Her bridesmaids were smoking hot in their black strapless dresses with a slit up the side, next to the dapper groomsmen in their white shirts and black bowties!
When it came to planning the wedding, even a last minute venue issue didn’t throw them off. “I actually have liked organising it, the only stressful part was having to switch wineries last minute. In saying that we haven’t really been overly fussy we really only wanted to have great food, wine and photos the rest was all just stuff we booked as we came” And they did have ALL of those things – although I am biased in the photo department! Just where did all of their wedding inspiration come from? “Secretly a lot of Op Shops! We have a 1905 house and I just love character homes and all the original furnishings. I’m setting up a cute corner with velvet studded chairs and lace background for people to take photos in. I have decorated everything at the reception floral and vintage and the ceremony we would just like to use the simple beauty of Wirra Wirra winery estate.”
I may be taking a some holidays after this final wedding for 2015, but I’m not going anywhere nearly as nice as where Kyle and Kirsty spent spending their honeymoon. “The French Polynesia, Bora Bora! Lucky girl! In one of those little hut things over the water all the trimmings! Kyle is petrified of sharks, I haven’t told him yet there is daily shark feeding right below our hut!!” Cheeky! Hope you guys had THE BEST time!
