No matter what the event or idea behind your photography session is, the answer to the question ‘when should I book a photographer’ is…as early as possible! The diaries of talented and popular photographers are filled well in advance, particularly for popular times of the year, for family shoots (mothers day, fathers day, Christmas), and while it may come as a surprise – newborns are booked in before they even enter the world.
So whether you are having a Christmas family shoot or an art portrait with your horses, here is a rough guide for your bookings:
Newborn shoots: While you can’t know when the actual newborn photoshoot will be, you can tee up an approximate time with your newborn photographer so they can allow room to move in their diary around your due date. Booking as early as the 12 week mark will ensure you get the newborn photographer and beautiful pictures you want and can cherish for a lifetime.
Family Shoots: Given the time it takes to edit and produce your photographs, even looking to make a booking one month in advance can be too late. This rings particularly true around Christmas time when families are looking to do a family Christmas portrait they can give as gifts – most photographers won’t even take bookings for November for Christmas styled photoshoots. To ensure you get the gifts wrapped in time, book your family portrait for a date 2 months before you need the pictures, but make the actual booking even earlier than that to secure your ideal photographer.
It’s never too early to book your photographer, so put Jade’s number in your speed dial and let her be the first to know when you fall pregnant or your mum is turning 50!
While the end of year is still six months away, photography sessions are filling up quick. Being very busy with wedding season at the end of the year Jade only has a handful of family portrait sessions available, if you would like to schedule in for family photos to be given out at christmas time there are only a limited number of sessions available in September and October 2013. So remember get in quick to avoid disappointment!
