While we are taking a break from wedding photography until February, it doesn’t mean we can’t reflect on the year that was, and my favourite Adelaide wedding locations in 2015!
To finish off wedding season 2014, and kick off wedding season 2015, I was thrilled to have been asked to photograph weddings at locations in Adelaide that I hadn’t yet been to. I love to explore our beautiful state and find the many hidden gems Adelaide, the Hills, and the coasts contain. There are a bunch of venues Id love to photograph at, but at this stage it just seems to be when I have an inquiry for one, I’m already booked somewhere else, and there are only so many weekends in wedding season!
At the very start of the year, I photographed the wedding of Mel and Aaron at Gomseral Winery in the Barossa Valley. It suited their theme perfectly, emphasising its rustic and Australian Bush roots.
Paige and Cameron’s wedding at Golding’s Winery was uber stylish, and maybe the beautiful and fun couple make me biased in picking this wedding venue as on of my favourites in 2015. We were able to get so many different background for their wedding photos at the one location, even when they had a first look on top of the ceremony and bridal party photos! I loved the stone walls of the reception venue, the lake, tall trees, vines – so many photo opportunities!
I got to revisit Waverley Estate for Casey and Nathan’s wedding – this wedding venue holds a special place in my heart because it is where I photographed the wedding of Natalie and Jace Bode, which I consider to be the culmination of putting a wish out to the universe and some hard work to get a dream come true! I love this wedding venue because you and your guests can actually stay there – and make a whole weekend of the celebrations! It can take a lot of the time pressure off when the bride and her bridesmaids can be getting ready at the same place that she will be getting married!
Last year I put out there that I would love a Mount Lofty House wedding to photograph – well…not only did I get one, but I got two in a month! Ashlee and Justin and Christopher and Christine both held their spring weddings at Mount Lofty House and I LOVE the photos! The old library is a photographers dream, the gorgeous garden grounds make a perfect outdoor wedding ceremony location, and of course there are the usual beautiful vines of the Adelaide Hills as well as that sought after Mount Lofty view that gets people running up the hill on a Sunday morning!
Also definitely worth the mention were Carrick Hill and a Riverland wedding that had me photographing on my first houseboat! But of course I have to give a shout out to my hometown of Ceduna where a lot of friends and family still live. I was lucky enough to be chosen to photograph a couple of weddings there in 2015 and it makes my heart sing to be involved – I feel so honoured to be called upon by people who knew me when I first started photographing weddings – and who I can still sit down and have a hot chocolate with now!
