Kirsty was very thankful for Etsy and Pinterest when it came to planning her wedding to Brad. “I tried to source as many things from locals where we could, and my inspiration was to create a memorable wedding day for myself and Brad.” Their colour theme was black and white, and Kirsty wanted to add a touch of modern rustic theming with small pops of colour, and was keen to use a lot of handmade accessories. “I had 2 years to plan so (it has been) pretty stress free.
On her wedding day and she was very much looking forward to marrying her best friend and celebrating with family and friends. I’ve known these guys for a while, but I introduced Brad and Kirsty to the rest of you after their engagement photo shoot. It was always obvious that Brad and Kirsty were made for each other, and that their ‘forever’ was going to be together.
When it was time to find her dream wedding dress though, Kirsty needed some more convincing than when she met Brad – this time it wasn’t love at first sight and she was not loving the dress on the rack. “I went shopping with my Mum and Grandma and it was the first shop we went to, and the third dress I tried on. I originally didn’t like it, but Mum wanted me to try it on and when I walked out, they started crying like babies, so I knew it was the one! It looked absolutely stunning on and I fell in love with it after I added some bling to it!”
On the wedding day, Kirsty and Brad had a lot of special touches added to their wedding, some of which were honouring family. They had a memory candle lit in memory of loved ones that had passed, Kirsty was using her mums veil and hair clips, and she had a special handkerchief and ribbon that had been passed down through her mums family for generations, which she wanted to tie around her wedding bouquet. There were lots of handmade touches such as blackboards and their families had been very helpful throughout the wedding planning and creating process.
It was pretty windy on the day of the outdoor wedding, but Kirsty and Brad didn’t let that get to them, and still headed down to the beach for some ocean wedding photos after the ceremony. We had STACKS of time for pre ceremony photos because the awesome hair and make up team were running way ahead of schedule – photographers dream!! I was thankful for a really lovely bridal party not only because it makes the day even more fun, but because I think I was starting to get car sick sitting in the back of the car when we were driving around to bridal party photo locations – so they let me ride shot gun – thanks guys!
There were a few laughs when Rev Sue had trouble getting Kylie, I mean Kristy, I mean KIRSTY’S name right. But nobody really had time to mind, because they were so focused on Kirsty and Brad, and how excited they were to be getting married. They are really, SUPER great people who are so in love, and I was very thankful to be a part of their special day. I hope you have a brilliant future together, but first – a magical honeymoon in the tropics! Enjoy xx
